Black Forest Pastry Shop has begun their Holiday revamp.

Just a few weeks ago, Black Forests’ shelves were filled with all things turkey and pumpkin. But in a matter of days since last Thursday, they have quickly flipped their pastry shop from orange, yellow, and red, to blue, red, and green— for the holidays.

Self-appointed as “A Little Slice Of Germany in Downtown Greenwich,” Black Forest Pastry Shop has fully embraced their American surrounding: when it comes to the holidays they go hard, just like any American does. As a bakery, they are notorious for being seasonally-accurate: they sell football cookies for the Super Bowl, hearts and red-and-pink treats for Valentines day, chocolate eggs for Easter, apple strudel and hot pretzels for Octoberfest, etc. But it is right now, in December, that the Pastry shop really brings out the big guns. Because it wouldn’t be the American holiday seasons if we didn’t go over the top, right?

At the top of their holiday-products hierarchy lies the Buch de Noel (yule log) which is decadent and festive, resembling any log you would find in the woods but tasting spongey and rich. But if a log doesn’t fit your agenda, you could go for another classic— gingerbread. They sell lavishly decorated homes, make-your-own kits, and even little Gingerbread boys and girls.

My favorite of theirs are their little "Sprinkle trees" on a basic sugar cookie. I am always a fan of their boxed cookies they sell year round because they have a knack for turning the basic cookie-comforts into gourmet sweet treats. These "Sprinkle trees" do exactly that with a festive twist.

Finally, Black Forest does tribute to its roots with a ‘Christmas Stollen,’ a classic German specialty of sweet yeast dough covered with Butter and Cinnamon with Marzipan and Fruits marinated in Rum. It nutty and savory on the inside, with an inside sweet kick, just like the holiday season 🙂

Black Forest Pastry Shop is located at 52 Lewis St, Greenwich, CT 06830

What a perfect enthusuasm enhancer for the holidays. These seasonal treats will enhance any table or party. You will be a star offering Buch de Noel for desert. How I wish they would ship.
